Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences Hosts Successful Media Conclave “Ink and Clicks: Words, Media and Imagination
The School of Media and Marketing, Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences (SUAS), Indore successfully concluded its Media Conclave “Ink and Clicks: Words, Media and Imagination” on Friday, January 30, 2026. The event united thought leaders, media practitioners, academicians and students to explore the evolving role of media in society focusing on traditional media and digital media.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vinith Kumar Nair delivered the inaugural session, in which using data driven insights he highlighted the shift from traditional TV to OTT platforms, generational consumer behaviors (Gen Z to Gen Alpha) and the pivotal role of data in marketing. “Data is the only oil that marketing today has. Without data, we are nothing,” he stated.
This was followed by the Keynote Speech: The Changing Role of Media in Society by Prof. Falguni Vasavada-Oza, Professor, MICA in which she described the current era as “fascinatingly scary” amid data-driven consumer options, emphasizing media’s evolution she emphasised that “Nothing is dying, but everything lives in a context.” She also stressed on inclusive narratives and diverse household media habits. “Media is no longer just a mirror. It shapes opinions, identities, and decisions,” Prof. Oza added.
Mr. Sridhar Aranala, Chief Sales & Distribution Officer, The Hindu, discussed print media’s post-COVID resurgence with a fourfold readership increase, subscription models and its complementary digital role in a Fire Side Chat titled-The Future of Print Media in the Digital Age. Mr Vinay Chhajlani, Founder & Group Chairman Diaspark and Webdunia, addressed technology’s impact on breaking language barriers, global digital transformation and its increasing role in misinformation in session titled “Truth or Fake: The Challenge in Digital Media”.
The Conclave also witnessed a Panel Discussion on the theme Traditional Versus Interactive Advertising, The Changing Dynamics moderated by Dr. Ravi Kumar, Program Incharge, School of Media and Marketing. The Panellists Prof. Falguni Vasavada-Oza, Mr. Sridhar Aranala, Ms. Devyani Jadav and Ms. Avni Jain shared takeaways on subconscious appeal, integration of traditional and digital strategies, targeting diverse audiences from urban millennials to rural consumers and balancing revenue through subscriptions and events.
Students actively participated in competitions “SUAS in a Minute” Reel Making, Best Short Documentary and Poster Making fostering creativity and practical skills. The Winners were also felicitated during the event.
The conclave reinforced balancing traditional media with digital media, using data-driven decisions, building editorial credibility and authentic storytelling, providing students invaluable interactions with leaders.
